Kıbrıs’taki Birleşmiş Milletler Barış Gücü (UNFICYP) adanın iki tarafı arasındaki geçiş noktalarının uzun süre kapalı kalmasından endişeli.
Covid 19 salgını nedeniyle Mart başında fiilen geçişlere kapanan kapıların açılması için herhangi bir plan veya çaba görmeyen Barış Gücü, geçtiğimiz günlerde bir açıklama yaparak geçiş kapılarındaki kısıtlamaların kaldırılması için taraflara yardımcı olmaya hazır olduğunu belirtmişti.
Geçiş noktalarının açılması çağrılarına Kıbrıs Rum tarafı, kendilerinin sadece iki kapı dışındaki kapıları kapattığını, tüm kapıları kapatan tarafın Kıbrıslı Türkler olduğunu belirterek yanıt veriyor. Ancak 14 günlük karantina süresi fiilen tüm kapıların kapalı olması anlamına geliyor.
BM Barış Gücü’nden kaynaklar, kapıların açılması konusunun siyasete alet edilmesinden endişe duyduklarını belirtiyorlar ve bu konuda verilecek kararların bilim temelinde verilmesi gerektiğine vurgu yapıyorlar. Ayrıca geçiş noktalarının tek taraflı değil koordinasyon halinde karşılıklı açılması gerektiğini belirtiyorlar.
Her iki tarafla da bu konusunda istişarelerde bulunan Barış Gücü yetkilileri kapıların yakın zamanda açılmasını pek olası görmüyor.
