Όμως εγώ, ως Κύπρια δημοσιογράφος, ποτέ δεν απείχα από το να υπερασπίζομαι, να είμαι με το μέρος κάποιου και να το λέω ξεκάθαρα.
Γιατί τα παιδιά μου πρέπει να με θυμούνται όχι να είμαι δίπλα σε αυτούς που μένουν σιωπηλοί, αλλά δίπλα σε αυτούς που παλεύουν για την ειρήνη.
Επειδή έχουμε γίνει όμηροι του διαχωρισμού,
Έχουμε πλαστεί με φόβο και μίσος
Μας εκτρέφουν με εθνικισμό
Συμπιεζόμαστε από την εθνική μας ταυτότητα.
Σε αυτή τη χώρα, που μας έχουν κάνει να πιστεύουμε ότι το μισό νησί είναι μεγαλύτερο από ένα ολόκληρο νησί, το να είσαι ανεξάρτητος, να μην παίρνεις το μέρος κάποιου, είναι σαν να είσαι υπέρ του στάτους κβο.
Ως ένα άτομο που μέχρι σήμερα δίνω αγώνα για ειρήνη και επανένωση στην Κύπρο, στις Ευρωεκλογές στηρίζω τον Νιαζί Κιζίλγιουρεκ.Όχι γιατί είναι Τ/κ. Στηρίζω τον Νιαζί Κιζιλγιουρεκ για τις αξίες που αντιπροσωπεύει, για τον αγώνα που δίνει και γιατί πιστεύω στο όραμα που πρεσβεύει.
Η κάθε ψήφος που θα δοθεί στον Νιαζί Κιζίλγιουρεκ, πιστεύω ότι είναι μια ψήφος για την ειρήνη έναντι της εχθρότητας, για την ομοσπονδία έναντι του διαχωρισμού, για το μέλλον ενάντια στο παρελθόν. Γι’ αυτό στηρίζω τον Νιαζί Κιζίλγιουρεκ.
Η κάθε ψήφος που θα δοθεί στον Νιαζί Κιζίλγιουρεκ πιστεύω ότι είναι μια ψήφος που θα δοθεί σε μία Κύπρο, σε όλη την Κύπρο, στην ολική Κύπρο, με μια εθνική ταυτότητα, όλες τις θρησκείες και όλες τις γλώσσες. Γι’ αυτό στηρίζω τον Νιαζί Κιζίλγιουρεκ.
Μας μάθανε ότι Τ/κ και Ε/κ δεν μπορούν να ζήσουν μαζί, δεν μπορούμε να παλέψομε από κοινού, δεν μπορούμε να ονειρευτούμε ένα κοινό μέλλον.
Μας έκαναν να πιστέψουμε ότι το παρελθόν μας ήταν διαχωρισμένο και το μέλλον μας χωριστό. Υποχρεωθήκαμε να είμαστε ο ένας ενάντια στον άλλον και όχι μαζί.
Αυτοί που έλεγαν το αντίθετο και προσπαθούσαν να το κάνουν καταστάλθηκαν, καταπιέστηκαν, διαψεύστηκαν.
Όμως ο Νιαζί Κιζίλιγιουρεκ ξεμπρόστιασε ως ψέμα ό,τι μέχρι σήμερα ήθελαν να μας κάνουν να πιστέψουμε.
Στην γεμάτη με πόνο ιστορία της Κύπρου, πρώτη φορά έχει φανεί ότι Τ/κ αι Ε/κ από διαφορετικές πολιτικές απόψεις μπορούν να παράξουν κοινή πολιτική για μια ενωμένη Κύπρο, ανεξάρτητα από την εθνική ταυτότητα, να στηρίξουν το ίδιο νησί.
Σε αυτό το νησί, το γεμάτο φαντάσματα και προκαταλήψεις, ο Νιαζί Κιζίλγιουρεκ μας έδειξε ότι μπορούμε να είμαστε μαζί, μπορούμε να δούμε το ίδιο όνειρο, να δώσουμε τον ίδιο αγωνα.
Μας απέδειξε ότι ο αγώνας, η διαμάχη σε αυτό το νησί που ξεριζωθήκαμε από τους τόπους μας και σκορπιστήκαμε στις τέσσερις γωνιές του, δεν είναι ανάμεσα σε Τκ και Εκ αλλά ανάμεσα σε εκείνους που θέλουν να διατηρήσουν διαιρεμένο το νησί και εκείνους που θέλουν την πατρίδα, την Κύπρο ολόκληρη.
Ο Νιαζί Κιζιλγιουρεκ μας έδειξε ότι η Κύπρος μπορεί να είναι μία, ο Νιαζί Κιζιλγιουρεκ μας έδειξε ότι οι Κύπριοι μπορούν να γίνουν ένα. Και ξέρετε τί είναι το πιο σημαντικό;
Ακόμα και εάν σε αυτές τις εκλογές ο Νιαζί Κιζίλγιουρεκ χάσει, θα έχει κερδίσει. Γιατί μας έδειξε την ικανότητά μας ότι μαζί μπορούμε να κερδίσουμε.
